Ok Guys this is what we have been doing in math class for the last two days... We have been doing Foldables about all the different kinds of numbers(I didn't know that there were different kinds of numbers I thought they were all the same HAHA)
So here are the different definitions...
Natural Numbers and Counting Numbers
- The numbers that are used to count "Things".
Examples: 1,2,3,4,5... Non-Examples: 0,-1,1.25,1.5
Whole Numbers
- All Natural Numbers AND zero.
Examples: 0,1,2,3,4,5 Non-Examples: 0.5,50%,1/2,1.1
Integers
- All Whole Numbers and their oppesites.
Examples: ...-5,-4,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4,5... Non-Examples:
Rationals Rational Numbers
- Any number that can be expressed as a QUOTIENT of two INTEGERS with a denominator not equal to zero.
Any number that can be written as a simple fraction.
Examples: 1/3, 2/5... Non-Examples: 5/0, 2/0, 4/0...
Irational Numbers
- Any number that cannot be written as a simple fraction.
Examples: 3.141, 5/0... Non-Examples: 5/0,?...
Real Numbers
- Includes all numbers that are Natural, Whole, Integer, Rational and Irational
Examples: Everything next to the word Examples that you see above
Non-Examples: See Irational Non-Examples
